Disrupting the Academic year

I was lucky enough to come home to Johannesburg for the Easter weekend. It has been a very busy, very short break. But a much deserved one nevertheless! Whilst spending some time with my extended family, my youngest cousin, Sabrina, was talking about all the plans she has for her school holidays. And my younger brother, Bradley, became very upset when he realised that Sabrina was going to be on holiday until next week Tuesday, 3 May 2011. The reason this upset my brother, is because Sabrina goes to a government school (unlike my brother who is a private, Catholic school), which means she has already had her first term break. Being allowed to miss seven days of school, in the middle of term time, is usually a very difficult thing to get away with.

Felt it, it is over.

Posted by Jayo in world cup , 2010

The 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ is over. It is over & I have been in a deep depression ever since. The days seem empty & the nights seem so long. Before it began I counted down the days to the opening ceremony but now I am counting the days from the closing ceremony. It is like I am going cold turkey, my daily fix has been taken away from me. I felt it but now it’s gone.

the nike ad curse - write your own downfall

Posted by Paralyzer in write the future , world cup , wayne rooney , nike , Adidas

Is it not ironic that all the guys who are featured in the "nike write your future ad" are now out of the world cup? Ronaldinho did not make to the worldcup,Cannavaro and Diddier got the boot during the first round whilst ,Rooney ruined it in the second round and Ronaldo also got the bump before getting the statue and the movie starring Gael Bernal Garcia. It's like it was pay back for all the hubris that the ad was made off.I see the irony did not escape the nike guys who have now quickly made one with Robinho,I wonder if thats a sign that Brasil aren't going to win this world cup. I hope for Rooney sakes all the depiction in the ads fail as badly as the campaign,I would'nt like to see him with a beard.

Whilst the modest and true to oldschool sportsmanship addidas ad relies more on the beauty of the game; its precision, strength and power.Whilst the emphasis pn glory is both for team and not just the individual.Their guys ads seemto hit all the right notes at the present moment, when one looks at the last 8 over half the teams are in addidas gear.So Iwould say branding wise addidas is sucking it to nike right now, whenit comes to the world cup.

Italy to fly home

Posted by barrmar in world cup , Italy

Four years ago, Italy managed three draws to get through the first round of the World Cup. Sadly, Italy did not manage to get through the first round this time and will be flying home. Unlike Le Bleu, Italy will not be going home economy class.

Bafana should have lost?

Posted by DevilTrigger in world cup , uruguay , Bafana

It had the potential to be a monumental day, one that would go down into the history books of not only our country, but the entire world. A win for Bafana against Uruguay on June 16th, Youth Day, on their home-ground, all while being the first African country to host the Fifa World Cup.  Those romantic thoughts of glory and cosmic justice seemed so strong sitting down for the match, but after what has to be called 90 minutes of heartbreak, I wanted nothing more than to point at the Universe and say F- you.

I have never watched so many soccer matches in such a short space of time as I have over the past week.

I went to the centurion Cricket grounds on friday for the 2010 opening festivities. Supersport park is the Tshawne/Pretoria fan fest location. What a huge party! The event was superbly organised and ALL the fans were in high spirits and well behaved. You could hear the vuvuzelas from kilometers away and it was just smiles and SA flags were you looked, not to mention Bafana gear!

I took my camera along and these are some of the pics I took of this awesome event. there were thousands and thousands of people, supersport park was jam packed and everybody had a ball. The only problem was the legth of the beer ques, doh!
all in all I hope all the rest of the world cup can go like this day, it was superbly organised and to my opinion if most of the events go like this, the world cup will be one to remember!

Hope you enjoy my photos!  BeMotivatedToday and make some money!

Soccer, football or the beautiful game. Call it what you want but I find the fascination with it some what absurd.
