HIV/AIDS has plagued South Africa for many years now. The infection rate is among the highest in the world. According to estimates drawn from surveys, one out of three women under age 25 are living with HIV. In 2009 a phone-based counselling centre called RedChatZone was launched to support and to give information to those living with HIV.

Trawling the internet, as I have a wont to do (this is what comes of not being able to sit through a film, when the family want to go to the (inaccessible, anyway) cinema. I remain at home, and find amazing/amusing/downright boring stories. There are stories each day to be had on the internet, and it does spread the availability of reading material. I am often surprised how few people use the net in this way.

In the light of the communist like Nazi laws the ANC are trying to impose on our media, I believe we need a different approach. What can you as a normal blogger do?

What I suggest is using places like Afrigator to get the support of other African bloggers. There are some pretty good blogs in places like Nigeria and Zambia. I think if all of us go and visit some African blogs, get them to come to ours and read about this rediculous law. The ANC won't listen to those white tendencies coming from the USA and Europe. We need black power on this one. Viva freedom of speech! (but lets try and keep it smart, tidy and inteligent, get the african intelectual involved in this)

Safety VS Social networking: a Facebook experiment

Growing up, our parents told us not to talk to strangers. Don't take candy from strangers. So if you walked down the street and a strange car pulled up, you were aware of the dangers and kept a safe distance. Throughout the years, the advice stayed the same, but the strangers changed. Today, we all know the dangers of revealing our personal details online. Yet when we get a new friend request on facebook, 7 out of 10 people will accept, even without knowing who the new "friend" is.
