You might recall my earlier articles regarding the Yahoo vs GMail, and Yahoo piggyingbacking on Nokia while Apple takes the lead. I don't hate Yahoo, really I don't. I'll admit it's not my first preference, I'm not particularly fond of Yahoo. You have to admire their resilience though... Still putting up the fine fight to move out of second place and overtake Google. Join the big boys
Their latest project is joining forces with Facebook and Zynga, meaning games like Farmville and Mafia wars will be available on Yahoo's Network. Furthermore, Yahoo will integrate its services with Facebook.
CNET reported: "More and more, people rely on social sites to share and discover information that matters to them, making Yahoo uniquely positioned to provide people with all of the mainstream methods of content discovery--social, search, communications, and editorial," said Cody Simms, senior director of social platforms and the developer network at Yahoo. "Starting with Facebook, we are bringing all of these elements together to give people one simple, trusted place to share information and connect" Social Media: Yahoo PulseYahoo has decided to concentrate more on social media (a bit too late, my personal opinion). With the integration of Facebook services, Yahoo-ers will find it easier to share their Flickr goodness on Facebook, by uploading their photo's on Flickr and seeing it appear on Facebook. Yahoo Pulse also means improved privacy controls, so Yahoo-ers gets to choose who sees what when it comes to their actions, status updates, or whatever else they share on the web. Users who have both Yahoo and Facebook accounts will be able to view their FB stream on Yahoo Mail and Yahoo.com. Basically the whole business comes down to maintaining both Yahoo and Facebook accounts with one update. Excuse my pessimism, but with the wide variety of tools out there, like Buzzom's new functions for example, this seems to be just another desperate attempt. Even Mxit users can update their Facebook updates via the Mxit network... |
I'm not suffering from insanity, I'm enjoying every second of it...
