As a Social Media User like many others I would be happy to share content, such as information, pictures, and data through a network with similar minded people in order to develop and grow. On the other hand, a Social Media Enthusiast will try to be in as many networking sites as possible to share his content, most of the time the same content.
A Social Media Newbie would try to analyse his activity, and would always be on the lookout to improve this and compare it to others. A Social Media Expert will never analyse his score or check his online reputation. It is majorly done by those who think they are experts/specialists, but aren't. So who really monitors the social media content?
By using sites such as How Sociable and Social Mention it allows users to carry out a social media search on an analysis platform that aggregates user generated content from across the universe into a single stream of information. It allows you to easily track and measure what people are saying about you, your company, a new product, or any topic across the web's social media landscape in real-time. Social Mention monitors over 100 social media properties including Twitter, Facebook, FriendFeed, YouTube, Digg, and Google.
On Twitter, there are so many ways to increase followers or post tweets with #hashtags to increase participation and improve scores. There are many Twitter users with over thousands of followers and because of their number of followers, they are seen as experts. They automatically come across as credible, real specialists. But this is not the case, they are merely Re-tweeters or content amplifiers. There are so many real brands, true experts, with integrity, knowledge, and skill who are out of the loop because of the idea of Social Media monitoring.
Businesses have less content to share than users, but users don't have a platform to share authentic content on and therefore exclusivity gets lost in most cases. Users want to be able to find content that is authentic, valid and reliable.
With the growth of Social media sites, networks, and genres, the unique user base is also increasing. There is a need for monitoring tools especially free tools. On the other hand, users also want to improve their online reputation, so be able to create exclusive content and get a better rating. It is a cycle that is helping the social media space to evolve and dominate the digital space.
