The bee population globally is declining.
We as humans are no strangers to destruction. The manner in which we treat our planet is a living testament to that. Can you Beelieve it?
Researchers in India believe however it is not humans however, but more precisely cell phones that are being held responsible. The bee population across the world is slowly but surely declining. And it is the not so humble cell phone that is being blamed for the demise of the humble honey bee. So after all the other usual suspects have been eliminated, it seems that it is the favoured communication device of we humans that is responsible for all the fuss. Beelieve it or not.
The experiment to prove the theory ran along the following lines:
Three hives were selected. Around hive one were placed real live cell phones. Around hive two were placed fake cell phones and around hive three no cell phones were placed.
Hive one was subjected to two fifteen minute cellular exposures per day. The exposure was performed during intense hive activity. The duration of the experiment was three months.
Three months of exposure led to the following results:
Hives two and three suffered no ill, but hive one did. The queen bee in hive one laid fewer eggs than the queens in hives two and three. In hive one there was no honey or pollen to be found.
Hives that are found under high-tension electricity lines seem to have the same results.
It would seem that the electromagnetic fields produced during the exposure cause a decline in bee numbers.
It appears that our chatter is causing bees to forget where the hive is. Hence the lack of honey and pollen. So the more we talk, the less the bees work. Unless it is in areas where more calls are dropped?
