New features found in iOS 5 buildsPosted by: msbodetti on Jun 12, 2011 |
I've been following up from the Jailbreaking community on new updates found in the iOS 5 builds. As you know the Apple Jailbreaking community is filled with developers and technicians, so this is why I have been keeping up with them.
Speech recognition
Apple has teamed up with Nuance, the well known company that enhances Speech technologies. @ChronicWire uploaded screen shots of the Nuance integration which you can find below. As you can see it gives you advanced options to choose as well as other features that will be useful such as Emoji keyboard to be everywhere, Mic on space key which lets users choose the option of enabling speech to text right on your keyboard.

Other Networking Integration
One of the big features introduced was the Twitter integration but it's pretty useless if some people don't use their Twitter account or don't have one at all. With the screenshot below posted by AllThingsD below, you will see other networking sites added and lets you choose to add other accounts such as Facebook, Linkedln etc.

Custom Vibration
There is no screenshot for this but a lot of the developers have been talking about this at the WWDC. Apple has made it possible for their users to make custom vibration patterns for contacts. So when someone is phoning you, and if you remember the vibration, you'd be able to tell who is phoning you when you are on silent.
FaceTime over 3G
The screenshot below looks really dodgy and hard to believe but the iOS 5 builds that were given to developers are beta builds so maybe that's why it looks like that. It's obvious what this is about, either use Wifi or 3G to FaceTime.

These are just 4 features announced from the Jailbreaking teams, but there are 200 new features. These were probably the biggest ones found by them. But there is no assurity that anyone of them will reach the final release in Spring/September this year. So lets hope it does get these nice features as I think they all will be very useful as you wouldn't need to install 3rd party apps to enable these features.
