Well since the last time I told all about the happenings at work, I’ve moved job, moved boss, and almost moved city! Yes, I’m on a huge project that’s in JHB and my new role is in JHB…so I’m in JHB 3-4 times a week! Needless to say, I don’t sleep over as wifey and baby is all alone at home, so I drive up and down 340kms a day!

My new role is called an Analyst: Research and Development…ooooooohhhhweeeeeee! If you know me, you’d know that this is right up my alley, to research new IT technology and then give my opinion on it! I already wrote a position paper for Metropolitan’s Enterprise Architecture group on Open Source Software that can and should be considered for enterprise usage, this paper is still in use and is part of the governance when doing RFP’s for new software! I’ll be doing the same here at my place of work as I’m instructed to write a position paper on Cloud Computing Services…yeah!

I’ve followed this fad/fashion/hype since end 2008, so I’m quite clued up on this. I’m about 30% complete and the reading just never seems to stop, but after all the reading there is one common denominator that keeps popping up…all the papers say the same thing!

The big project I’m on has some strict deadlines that I made and some I didn’t, but its all good, this is very good exposure and experience. We are looking to move to JHB next year June or even earlier depends on what God permits, but we are looking to buy a house this time around, and then wifey can look for a job here too…
