Well, it's been an experience.
I've fallen just short of my story a day objective, but I might be able to push myself with a few feature/portal submissions!
Regardless, ITWeb is a good place to work. The things they cover are interesting, and it's so refreshing to not have to write in idiot-speak like most hard-news publications.
I had a lot of first time experiences, like being in Jhb outside the airport, driving to Pretoria, attending Goth Bars (Red Room?) and being revolted by pretentious indie-ness (Kitcheners).
Finally having Stout to drink (Grahamstown only has lagers) was also an added bonus of my time here.
What to expect if you manage to get a job here? Meeting with CEO's (who make you cappuchinos while wildly contorting their heads to prove their bluetooth headset is perfectly designed and won't fall off), coffee machines that look sentient, free lunches at Browns (IN their prestidgious wine cellar), meetings in which people try prove that they're not idiots for buying iPad 2's, bustling activity, actually being given things to do (unlike certain other news providers who take on interns) and finally: being able to write about interesting things that actually matter! Yes, that's right! ICT Business news!
(Also included: 3D cameras, MP3 Players, Bipolar internet, your own phone, good feedback and an open-door policy workplace with accessible superiors).
I'm glad I worked here for 2 weeks, and I might just be ITWeb affiliated over their digital life events later in the year, if I can find the transport!
Hope you all had a productive last few weeks, becase I'm going back to University with an actual desire to enter the working world (and make some money), as horrifying as that sounds!
