For Dissol

Fellow myDL blogger Dissol has been notably absent from here due to undergoing some necessary but annoying and painful shoulder surgery.

I wanted to write something especially for him to wish him a speedy recovery and to convey to him that we have not forgotten about him. (Well, I certainly haven't!) And since laughter is said to be the best medicine (although I'm sure he'll readily disagree and take his pain pills over a fit of giggles any day), I also hoped to make him laugh or even just smile a bit.

I don't know if this will have the desired effect - I personally find it so atrocious that I suspect it will induce more cringes than guffaws  - but I have written him a limesick.

No, that's not a typo. You see, a limesick is simply an extremely ill-composed limerick that has been written especially for ailing people in a feeble attempt to make them feel better.

I originally planned to modify the lyrics from "Crank dat Soulja Boy", to turn it into something more appropriate to the occasion, perhaps something more along the lines of "Crank dat Shoulders Boy", but the lyrics ended up being so repetitive and uninspired (case in point:  "Soulja Boy off in this oh

Watch me crank it, watch me roll,

Watch me crank dat, Soulja Boy

Then Superman dat oh"), that I didn't have all that much to work with.

Also, I don't speak Rap, so if someone could please assist and translate "Then Superman dat oh" into plain English, I will be ever so grateful.

Okay, enough rapping on the rappers. I'm just stalling here. Besides, it's not as if my finished limesick is anything to boast about either!

But ill-composition of it aside, it was written with the best of intentions, Dissol! So here goes, your very own limesick:

After years of putting shoulder to the wheel

Mister Dissol’s shoulders began to feel

So very out of joint

That it reached breaking point

Will his new ones be made out of steel?
