So the Nokia folk, yes Nokia, those people who started making cellular telephones before they were cool, are running a interesting "competition" they invited all blog owning folk to make a mobile app using their app wizard and spread it to the masses.

Mikezilla LogoSo this is my impassioned plea to you to please if you know anyone with a Nokia phone (besides me) force them to go download my app or my be forced to pollute mydl with more of my drivelly blog posts (you've been warned)

5 Reason why you must have my app:

  • No livestock or pets were harmed (yet) in the production of my app though some cats may be kicked if downloads of my app do not increase soon... here kitty kitty kitty (download my app and save a cat!)
  • With the help of my app you can be among the first people to read my content updates and publicly vilify me for my ridiculous opinions! First is always better than not first in my books.
  • People who've downloaded my app include such celebrities as me ... and hopefully someone else soon! Join the cool kids and go get your app now
  • My app has the lowest carbon footprint of any app on the market. In fact your sighs of derision while reading my content will actually help reverse the effects of greenhouse gases. (I have no scientific evidence to support this but it does seem to make sense to me *nodding*)
  • If you don't download my app I may cry *sniff sniff*

So do the right thing click on my banner and download my damn app before I'm forced to send Dissol after you.

There seems to be a problem with app designers on MyDL; first Source goes and makes an app for Hair Salon owning, Blackberry users. I am a bald, iPhone user.
Then Mike re-appears after months hiding in his cave, working feverously on an app only for kitty loving Nokia users. Now, the only Nokia users I know of, are also cave dwellers, and I don't much care for cats (all cats can sense this, and make a beeline to sit on me, and lick themselves...often in the cello playing position, which is really unpleasant).
So no; I shall not be cajoled into being your bouncer.

PLUS...one of my rivals for the Tom Tom happens to be the Muse, who is only interested in the damn thing, because you (a) could not give her proper directions to be able to find her way home, and (b) disappeared off to a cave in Nigeria, when clearly you should have been by her side giving directions...

It's not easy doing anything for iOS. I wanted to make a blog app but you have pay like $100 to join the developer program FIRST. I lost interested after reading that smilies/cheesy.gif

a year?! even worse! I guess I should contact an existing developer for help, if I ever get serious about creating a basic app.

Nice app but useless for us iPhone users! smilies/smiley.gif @Charmed the SDK for iOS is pretty easy to use that's why Apple charges for it. If you dont wanna buy it, torrent it. Unfortunately that's what a lot of people are doing anyways.

Another reason why they charge you for it, is because you get 24/7 support from Apple when developing your App.

Well actually Apple charges for it because it can. The app store is the promised land for lots of developers with millions of dollars changing hands. Ultimately though without a good supply of good quality apps the "i" brand would be less appealing in the market. Much like every else it always boils down to supply and demand. I'm pretty sure if there were a shortage of good quality apps Apple could find a few cents somewhere to forego the charge to encourage developers as it happens they've got developers lining up.
