The biggest change on the new myDigitallife is the new split of the blog section into the Digital and Lifestyle categories.
Now I have received a couple of people questioning this move, so here is the mindset behind it.The core reason why myDigitalLife is as successful as it is, stands on two legs:
- The user generated content
- The professional generated content
From a user perspective we have always encouraged technology/gadget/web orientated blogs. We have also accepted general blogs. The fact remains that we are in core a digital orientated website and we need to give those content articles more exposure above the rest.
The split between the sections is aimed to give postings with a digital flavor more exposure and we are not going to make excuses for that reflecting as such on the home page.
We do however still embrace lifestyle postings as it is an important part of the community.
You win some you loose some
Some of the features that were on the previous site will be restored in the next week
- Latest comments
- User Profiles Feeds
The idea was never to completely drop these features. The revamp needed to happen and it was decided to go ahead with it and activate the rest in time.
I admit that I personally thought that the Chat Room would be a better option than the Shout Box, but clearly we all miss OS Giken in the Shout Box. I did try and activate this on Friday, but something went wrong and I am looking into it.
The user profile feeds is something else I am working on. This should be up on Monday/Tuesday.
As always you are welcome to drop me a mail if you have any problems
