The things that people do never fail to amaze. This morning I heard about a man that ran up to a car brandishing a toy gun. "Hijack! Hijack! Hijack" he shouted as he pointed the gun at the occupants of the car. Of course he is now on the wrong side of the law.
What was he thinking? Perhaps his IQ is somewhere approaching zero. Maybe he has just failed to grow up. I have my own theory. If you run up to a car full of people and point a gun at the occupants what is the likely outcome? If one of the occupants is armed then its curtains. Hijackers never work alone - it is way too dangerous. They go in twos or fours. So the hoaxer was probably feeling suicidal. He thought it through carefully and decided that this was the way to do it. Taking your own life is more difficult that getting someone else to do it for you!
Perhaps he thought that the next best thing was to get himself arrested and to spend some time in prison. No bills, no responsibilities, no work, free food, free accommodation ... a view that is likely to change soon.
But then again it could have been plain stupidity and a poor sense of humour. With so much real crime around is it possible for someone to believe that there wouldn't be consequences?
The mind boggles!
