Sony Playstation 80Gb Dion Wired Entertainment

Today's post looks at entertainment. Now the Playstation 3 has long been the object of my affection. Now my first admission, when it comes to this device, I am completely and utterly biased. I love it to bits, technologically it's a marvel aesthetically well, really look for yourself.

Ok down to business, why do I love this machine?

Let me count the ways:

  • 7 Processing units delivering 3.2 GHz
  • 550Mhz Graphics card based on the Nvidia 7800
  • 80 Gb HD capacity
  • 50 Gb Blu-Ray capacity

All in all I've followed this machine from long before it came out and the biggest differentiator was always the grunt this machine has with the Cell technology powered CPU and a separate Graphics CPU this machine has power to burn. It has suffered the same problem that the Playstation 2 suffered from, new technology is not developer friendly. Developers are only now figuring out how to harness the full power of this beast. Over and above that throw in the blue tooth controllers and the fact that this machine is packing a blu-ray drive it becomes evident that this machine is way ahead of it's time.

Tech Gamble

I fear history will find that Sony's huge gamble on cramming all this technology into one machine will be remembered as the cause for the stuttering life of this console so far. The cost of the technology along with the associated costs and the global recession making the technology market much more price sensitive have all counted against PS3 in this gamble.

The PS3 has arrived

I believe the PS3 has finally arrived though. Dual shock is back hard drive's bigger and the console has matured as a Wi-Fi ready media player. This machine really shines and where the competition is probably running at close to capacity trying to keep up with the developers it's quite clear the developers still have a lot more power to tap in this black box.

Now if only the price could shrink slightly and all the games we were promised would appear.

Wouldn't this look stunning below a wall mounted Samsung BD-PF4600 Blu Ray player?

Dude, the slim line is apparently on its blu ray player in...but thats just speculation.

I like PS...i mean we were not used to Xbox...we even alter our controlls to resemble PS controls, you know, the x is where the x should be etc.

Problem is still the price, for the price of the console and the games...pppssssss...too expensive, same results with Xbox! smilies/wink.gif

I took my first mortgage loans when I was very young and that aided my relatives very much. Nevertheless, I require the commercial loan once again.
