Sport and technology

After viewing several matches of the Football World Cup several things are becoming evident. Firstly the high ideals of sport and sportsmanship are no longer relevant. Football is a professional sport clinging onto values and principles that no longer apply. The referee for instance is said to be only human but his mistakes can cost sponsors, teams and organisers a lot of money. The USA might have finished top of their group yesterday with an injury time goal but, in their previous match a match winning goal was disallowed for no apparent reason and neither was one given. FIFA and football in general tends to operate on business lines. That is never hidden. MATCH, the commercial arm of FIFA that protects its commercial marks and interests is a fine example of this. So then the obvious question is why does the football governing body still cling to old fashioned ideal such as referee's decision is final with no option for teams to question his decision through the use of technology.

The way in which technology is moving we, the denied people, living in areas so under developed that it might seem we're moving back instead of forward, should be grateful. We live in a time and place ripe for innovation, but for a few problems, monumental achievement seems to be within reach. Simon Silvester in an interview published by www.bizcommunity.com points out that media is becoming mobile, campaigns will need to be more specific, tailored and will last shorter amounts of time than the norm. I'm paraphrasing here, but “forget 365 its all 24/7 now”

If you're going to the game tomorrow

Tomorrow is South Africa's big game. In terms of the World Cup the stakes are as high as they come for our soccer nation. There have been a few weak links in the Bafana team and hope is not enough to get certain players into form. Now is not the time to be playing yourself into form. Teko Modise is one of those players who deserves a warm seat on the bench at home. Nowhere near the team. So does Mbazo Costas Mokoena. Captain Costas is a liability, so considering that we are playing the French and their inclusion is benefit to the French not us here is some free copy for your poster:

When music became about hype

I haven't actually met a Justin Bieber fan, no one has actually come out and said: "I'm so glad I spent money buying Justin Bieber's tracks from iTunes." There are a few reasons for this. This could possibly be because if you did make such an admission you would be cast out of your tribe. Or you would be fed to wild animals. Or maybe, and I am going out on a limb here, Justin Bieber is shite.

Information is passes from person to person faster than it takes a politician to make a mess of things. For scientific purposes that is faster than the speed of light which is still slower than its takes an average boy to lose the ability to speak when seeing a pair of boobs.

Someone famous once said: I have a dream, where Macbooks and Netbooks, notebooks and desktops, where Windows and Leopard, Snowleopard and Ubuntu could live together and play together in a world without being capped.

Consider a world where everything you do is monitored and subject to approval by committee. Imagine a time and place where your opinion is forced into hiding unless it be subjected to inquiry and harassment. Imagine you being the subject of torture, intimidation and violence. Readers of this blog I have a request for all of you. Whether you are a blogger or not.

I was merely looking for a Joomla expert to help with one small itty bitty item. As Monster Magnet said, "its crystal, crystal clear," if its related to Joomla you're bound to find a whole bunch of information and places to ask questions. But its going to cost you. Time, money or both.
