Ten years from now, when I'm bouncing a miniature humanoid android likeness of myself on my knee, I'll be telling him/her/it about 2011 as the last time tablets were only small round thingies you put in your mouth. In a few months expect them to be more fashionable than adopting underprivileged children or llama jokes.

Just an update, no kitties were harmed in my quest for a trip to SXSW (South By South West) in Austin Texas.

So the Nokia folk, yes Nokia, those people who started making cellular telephones before they were cool, are running a interesting "competition" they invited all blog owning folk to make a mobile app using their app wizard and spread it to the masses.

Having spent my weekend cringing at the embarrassing and probably staged tantrum thrown by our very own Steve "The Hof" Hofmeyer I now sit pondering the future of our country. 

My favourite friendly folks have finally forced out the previously leaked IE9 as a public beta version for download. The IE9 beta was launched for download amongst much pomp and ceremony, making some very impressive claims.

It is a strange truth that probably the defining characteristic of geeks like us is our absurd fascination with old technology. Whether that outdated version of windows running on my partition gives me comfort, peace of mind or just memories of better computing days, who knows, but there it is and long may it stay. While going through my daily grind I opened up my calculator app in windows and I was struck by a thought, “imagine if there was a real life device that could do calculations for me”

I’ve been using hootsuite for 6 months now as my tweeting vehicle of choice. Now for those of you that don’t know, Hootsuite 5 is website where you can keep track of and update all of your social networking activities. The best bit about hootsuite 5 is the fact you can schedule your updates to twitter and facebook and now a half a dozen other social networking sites too.

I was having a look around the net this morning and the only thing I know for sure is that no one knows who’s going to win this world cup. No one knows how many goals will be scored. No one knows who’ll be the top scorer (Kinda like top blogger but  for fit people) No one know who the shock first round exit will be (there’s always one) No one knows anything.
