A black person can call another black person a n*gg**, a white person cant.  A black person can refer to another black person’s hair as nappy, a white person cant.  A black person can joke with another black person about being uncivilised, No, Nivea, you can’t!

I’m not specifically commenting on the right or wrong of columnist, Eric Miyeni’s article that appeared in the Sowetan, what I am looking at is the possible case of double standards displayed by South African Media house, Avusa, if claims made by Miyeni that editor of the newspaper at the time, Len Maseko was fired and did not resign are in fact true.

“During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to this struggle of the African people. I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.
