Truth, objectivity, public interest, fair comment, accuracy. Some of the most basic and essential media ethics that have been breached time and time again.

The media undergoes numerous stresses such as financial pressures, looming deadlines, lack of public confidence, and external censorship. It’s inevitable that organisation defects will rear their ugly heads now and then.

Print publications, radio stations, television programmes and websites are not stand-alone entities; people are the driving force behind them. And as some are fond of repeating, “Mistakes are part of being human” – this is what distinguishes us from robots.

Television broadcast is far from dead, it is simply adapting and transforming. The new broadcast landscape is not just about check-ins, real-time tweets, catch up TV or instant connectivity.  While television and social networks form stronger bonds and increased interactivity; researchers and media practitioners emphasise that this is not the only change social TV will bring.

You’re probably used to seeing #hashtags in programmes by now, a 2011 trend that allows those watching television and using social networks to follow, discuss and share their viewing experience.   Recently the series Game of Thrones and the American Superbowl have all incorporated aspects of social TV to stimulate user conversation about their programs.

Let's put it this way, remotes scare me. Not because I believe they're little alien babies from bigger, badder alien lifeforms, but because for the most part electronics scare me. Did I mention I work for a Social Media Company? See the irony? Until last year September I still had my first TV I bought at 17 years of age a super 54" with an ass that would make the Kardashians envious.
