Alright, here begins my life in the digital world. In front of me is a box containing a HUAWEI U8860.I'm beginning to sweat just from touching it.
I think it's an Android, wait let me google it....
....Oh my word, I cannot remember the last time I looked at GSM Arena. I think it was back in 2009 when I was still working as a sales consultant for a Vodashop in East London.
My job was easier then, I could just log on and either print the specs for the client or just look at 'features'. Now...eish :)
I not only have to learn about this device but I have to write an indepth article about it. Here goes a big something...I pray I wont fall flat on my face trying to impress my superiors.
You know what? Stuff that, I think I'll just have fun with the device, that way I can learn about it easily. Yeah I think that works better. Besides, I always do a better job when I'm not trying to impress anyone.
I'll continue to blog about it but if you're out there and you're a tech head and feel like giving free advise...PLEASE do so. In fact I encourage you to walk this journey with me.
Who knows...it might just be fun!

Hi futuresole. All I can say is "I know how you feel". I got my first smartphone 2+ weeks ago and can't decide if I have mastered it or if it has beaten me down.
You may have notice my posts on the Motorola Razr. Thaat is my attempt to write an article about the phone, but also my attempts to get to know it.
A lot of what I have learnt wll also apply to you as the Razr and the Huawei both use the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and both can be upgraded to the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (yah I know, Android is out to make us hungry). You may have an easier time there as Motorola are mucking about releasing ICS for my phone. As I am discovering, all Android phones are very similar. The fact that I didnt know that indicates what a novice I am.
At least I am only writing for my own edification, not to impress a boss *gulp* Best of luck.
Hey futuresoul. I know exactly what you mean about feeling intimidated! But - and please do NOT take me as any sort of expert or authority on the matter - your instinct to "just have fun" is spot-on. And later, when you write about it, have fun too. If you have fun, your readers will have fun. It's the darndest thing, but it's true. The pieces that I struggle with? It is almost as if readers can sense your struggle and then they don't enjoy it. But I tend to get loads of positive feedback on the stuff that I had fun to write! Go figure...

In the mean time, enjoy playing with the Huawei!
