Microsoft held a press conference around midnight local time last night and I wasn't prepared to stay up that late so I read about their new tablets this morning.
It's quite a big step for them, creating their own hardware (apart from the very successful Xbox line). I think, although late to the tablet market, better late than never.
I'm quite excited about their tablets, especially after playing with the Nokia Lumia 800 (Windows Phone). I was impressed with the Metro interface and can't wait to see what it's like on a tablet. My experience on the Lumia 800 was so good that I almost didn't want to go back to iPhone.
It's about time we have more than just iPad and Android offerings. The PlayBook doesn't even deserve a mention because BlackBerry themselves have written
So, what's so special about the tablet? For one, Microsoft's Steven Sinofsky (president of Windows division) calls it "a tablet that’s a great PC – a PC that’s a great tablet."
Let's hope it arrives in the loal market close to when it arrives in the States.
