Those that were born before 2000 (many of us) either had these on consoles or your first cellphone had these pre-installed. I’m talking about classic games that used to keep you glued to the screen, any screen for that matter. Here are my favourite classic games:
My mother had this game on her first Nokia phone in the early 2000s, and it was my first experience to mobile gaming. The only game-over I knew was when my thumbs started hurting, then take a five minute break, and back to thumbing the keypad. No wonder she had to have the phone’s keypad repaired within months on buying the brand-new phone…
I first played this at a friend’s place who had a PC, and we used to take turns and play for money. I won about 0.9% of the time considering that he owned the PC and practiced when I was away.
My dad bought a new LG tv, and Tetris was installed on the TV menu. Considering that I’m the family ‘electrician’, I setup the TV, and somehow I discovered the game, and it became an addiction. I taught my dad how to play the game, he taught my mother, and the rest is history. We would play for hours on end to compete on who gets the highest score. Fast forward ten years later, I bought a new Sony Ericsson phone last month. Yep, you guessed it… It’s got a slightly different version of Tetris pre-installed…
I got my first PC in 2004, from a family friend, who gave it to me for my birthday. I was excited to get the computer, it had lots of software and games that he had installed for me, and among those was Pac-Man. I actually wasn’t interested in the game, and never played it… until years later, when one day I was bored, and decided to check out games I had never played on the PC. To cut the long story short, it became my used program on the computer.
1. Super Mario Bros.
I actually had one of those consoles with classic games, and I immediately got addicted to Mario from my first play. It is one of the best-selling games of all time, and anybody who has played this game will tell you it’s one of the best ever. No words can do justice to Super Mario…
Which games here bring back good memories?
