Dear myDL Authors,
We have some really great news for you! After our recent site revamp, which saw a significant and long-overdue upgrade to the blogging platform, some more amazing changes are afoot at My Digital Life.
From April 1st, 2012, you will be paid 40c per South African hit you receive on all of the original blog posts you write with a technological and digital slant. That’s right, you’re getting a raise! And a significant one too: it’s double the amount that you are currently earning! And no, this is no April Fool’s joke. So come on! Get writing and earning. We want to hear about those apps, your phones, those gadgets you covet, your social networking activities, the games that you love, the tech that blows your mind…
This new payment structure will first be implemented on a three-month trial basis. If it leads to more blogging, local readership and site growth, the increase could be extended, perhaps even indefinitely! So spread the word, get blogging and get your friends and family in South Africa to hit on your blogs so that you can rake in those DigiRands.
We giveth, we taketh away, but then we giveth some more
The other change is that bloggers will no longer earn anything for opinion blogs about non-digital related topics. The main reason for this is that we would like to emphasise the importance of digital blog posts. After all, the site IS called My DIGITAL Life. For those of you who still feel the need to wax lyrical about the antics of your dog/cat/significant other or rant about politicians, you’ll still be able to do that. The opinion section will now be combined with the non-paid for Lifestyle division and grouped into a category called “General Blogs”. Another change is that bloggers and site members will not earn 2 cents for offering their 2 cents’ worth in the comments section of blog posts and articles anymore.
During this 40c-per-hit trial period, our monthly Click-A-Lot Day will fall away. On this day, which fell on the first Wednesday of every month, Authors used to receive triple pay per local hit received on any blog for that 24-hour period. During this three month trial, Click-A-Lot Day will be replaced by “Top Earner”. The blogger who receives the most local hits on their posts in a month will receive a bonus of R500 in addition to their earnings for that particular month.
So, are you ready to rake in those DigiRands yet? Then get scribbling!
