Well having been a partial observer to this site over the past few months due to a very hectic schedule i decided that this was the idea opportunity to re-enter the world of MYDL!

Last year I spent a little bit of time reading all your posts and comments about Smokoo and the way they are all scum and there was no possible way that anyone could win. The idea I got was that you all felt like the consummate expert on how this system works. Well it seems no one was willing to sit and take a longer harder look with a little bit of unbiased journalistic integrity, something I am well used to after the year that has passed.

So in the interests of boredom, curiosity and well just plain stubbornness I signed up last Thursday afternoon at work and began to observe. Very quickly I learnt who the players where and who the chancers where.

It amazed me as at first I thought of it as a bit of a legal form of gambling but very quickly realized that this the kind of strategy employed when tackling these auctions is something straight out of The Art of War!

Let me explain some observations:

1. It is pretty easy to understand that you don't bid against someone who won an auction for 500 bids the night before if you don't have credits in the bank.

2. Single bidding while there are auto bids in play is stupid, watch carefully and you might just figure out the right moment to throw your own auto bid into the mix.

3. Yes while Smokoo make some losses, they do indeed make some profit, well at least that is what business is all about is it not?

4. Working the bids and setting you maximum price is what counts, yes you will lose some, unfortunately that is how the system works but if you are clever you can win more than lose.

5. The glory is that everyone pays a share and one person wins, have I won? Yes I have but I will not reveal what until the very end of the challenge I am putting out at the bottom of this blog.

Think of it this way, Vodacom run a competition that says if you sms the answer to this question to the following number you have a chance to win a car. Well how is that any different? You have a chance to win depending on if you send one sms or one million of them. You will never be sure how it worked. Yet none of us who have ever entered a competition has ever accused the organisers of being scum even though they made million of revenue out of the sms's that where sent. Their reward being far higher than the cost of the prize.

At least with Smokoo you can see what is happening, plan your attack and know the outcome. Hell for reference purposes they even ask for your FICA documentation, something I have noticed neither Bidding Buzz nor Bidchaser ask for.

So there was a uproar over an iPad, who gives a dam, it was an honest contest between adults that chose to partake.

I will admit that having watched auctions on other sites I do prefer Smokoo due to the rapid conclusion of the auction, longest I have viewed is about three hours at 5c increments. As opposed to one on Bidchaser this weekend that lasted three whole days and rose painfully slow at 1c a bid.

I mean come on guys, how is it a scam if there is the choice on your side to partake or not, it is not a gamble as if you watch carefully you quickly realise who is serious and who is not. Just going in and hoping to win is not going to be good enough here, you have to use your brain and if used right it is a great adrenaline rush as the seconds click off to victory!

So here is the challenge, I have chosen to go all out with to prove that this site has been treated unfairly by all you techno savy individuals. What I will do is demonstrate the way I have very quickly picked my own working strategy and to be honest made a good game of making sure I pay very little for it. In the coming days I will announce the item I desire and the times to view me in action!

I invite you all to watch and comment afterwards. Maybe just maybe, if I an individual who is known by most of you as well as someone who is most definitely still employed by Teazers can win something of value then you all can with a few simple strategic moves.

To clear it up my user name on the site is sean1092 and I promise to go for a big ticket item to prove it can be done and that the so called "bots" can easily be defeated. After which I will prove by posting a screen shot what my strategy was and how I beat the supposed system by using my head instead of crying foul!

So who is up for the challenge, I win you appologise, you win I will retract this entire post!

As always I swim against the stream!

I totally agree with you. I discovered Smokoo via a banner on sterkinekor and I mean, you don't need to get a master to understand how they make money. Understanding that, I was pretty confident to believe that they are not a Scam. Furthermore, after going through all the different forums, no one is complaining not receiving their items. So where is the Scam? Just by checking their traffic with alexa.com, you will notice that they are real people bidding on this site. In general, penny auction website is a great concept but there is unfortunately a few who are using bots, I mean it is pretty obvious, just by checking how many visitors they get how could they have with a 1/100 of smokoo traffic as many auction as smokoo? and further to that make more money (especially Bidchaser). That is a fact. And I don't think that smokoo is using any bot because with the amount of the traffic they get, they will just cut their profit if they do so.
Back to the strategy, I also agree and I figured out a few different strategy used now by my competition of few users. And I don't which one you did opt for. But You must figure it out by yourself and apply a strategy that it will suit your wallet. I can tell you that I'm using a strategy that I call an auto/sniper. Let me explain:
I bet of course in the last second but if there is only one autobid left, I will "snipeā€ with all the other snipers and if I notice that there is only me as single bid and just another autobid in that auction, then I will start my auto bid. Like that, I will be sure that I won't encounter any sniper against my autobid later on. And yes I have won some auctions like that! And I'm enjoying my iPads right now very much...
Looking forward for your move then on Smokoo and see if you have a better stragegy.

Doolally,

It is easy to call it that if that is the way you wish to look at it. From my side you are talking to someone that gets upset when I lose those free chips on Facebook Poker.

I unfortunately choose to view it as a game of strategy and without giving away my strategy have not lost anything at all. In fact yesterday I tested the strategy I am to implement with the above mentioned challenge and my wife is now extremely happy with her underwater Casio camera.

For their part Smokoo where great, I paid and collected and while there saw the store room.

That in itself is interesting as if it was a scam and their where many bots then my keen eye should never have been able to account for every prize currently listed as well as a few yet to come.

From what I am told there are some amazing things on the way and to be honest I must say it was a relief to see all that stock, that in itself means that every time they load it, someone gets it otherwise they would not have to hold any stock because bots can't collect prizes.

Call it what you want, but play it right and you will be the winner. AS I mentioned before sending an sms for a competition that you never see the results from no matter how big and trusted the company is more of a gmable than this site.

At least you have the choice and can see what is happening here.

Try it and be smart you might just sing the praises.

Anyone that wants to verify the win go look at the closed auctions and look for my username - sean1092 - for the Casio Camera. R330 in bids and R16.10 means I got a R4000 camera for R346.10. That to me is a bargain.

But lets wait for the real test next week, the big one which I will announce on Monday so you can all watch.

Don't ever enter the sms competitions. I always seem to win the ones I enter online though (only if its free:D ). So far last year I won a bicycle each for my kids, Prime circle cds, the collection of the Harry Potter dvd's... oh and a holiday I gave away to a friend as I don't have an other half to share a romantic weekend away with ;D.

Good luck with smookoo may you win everytime ;)

I rather expected to see Dissol flinging his poo in here about how it is a scam. Must have his head down considering it is the beginning of the new year. :P
