So it's Friday and I thougth we could do with a little tech humour and or food for thought. I recent came across this picture on the net and couldn't stop laughing, it also brought back some memories which I will share below. Sometimes it's not good to judge a book by it's cover.
My grandfather used to be the administrative head of the H.F. Verwoerd Hospital in Pretoria aka (Pretoria Academic Hostpital) . He often recalls things that happened while he worked at the hospital. One such case was a homeless guy who came in, he was so tick and lice ridden that it had caused him to become very sick and the hospital feared an outbreak.
The guy was clutching a few old newspapers rolled up under his arm and wouldn't part with them. The hospital staff took away all his stuff including his clothes which they later burned and brought him new clothes. They also scrubbed him down cause he was very filthy.
When they tried to take the newspaper the man put up such a fight that they needed to call in the police and the admin head of the hospital. When they finally got the newspaper from the man, they found R45000.00 rapped inside the paper. Apparently he had sold his car and other loose assets and had taken the cash and took to the streets. My grandfather always tells us this story when we see a begger walking down the street, that day really opened my grandfathers eye's.
Just another reason why you should not judge the book by it's cover. Sometimes people do weird things when they are down and out or depressed.
I bet after see the picture and story above you wil see homeless people with new eye's ;-)
