OK, it's been some time since my last blog, so its only fitting that I come back with a moerse rant, with some quirky lines and balls to the wall blogging. Last night we were still awake at 1am, and we watched some special on Google, and the stupid people really asked the CEO the dreaded question - "Google knows more about me than I do" and even more stupid - "what do you do with my data?" Anyhoo, Google apparently keeps ALL, yes, ALL queries that you type into that little bar whenever you want something from Google, since 1998, they have kept all those queries, I don't know how true this is, but its possible.

Now, with all that queries and facts about what people search or "Google" they can form categories of data that normally gets searched together, you get the picture. Now, every time you type something into Google, like; How to hijack an Airbus, alarm signals goes off there in the US and a dark room filled with nerds working for the FBI start monitoring your every search. They can do this, should you be logged in they can keep track of what you do or what you search for...if your not logged in they can track your searches with you IP address, your pc's address on the network...

Now that we've established that Google can and actually does keep your search records, let's come to the definitive conclusion that even though they keep all that data, by the tons, can they really harm you? The CEO has admitted to them helping the FBI zoom in on threat-worthy searches, but that's about it.

I honestly can't see how Google can and will sell my data off to some internet marketing company or tell my whole family that I'm searching for love on the internet? Why would a big company like Google do that? Plus, the closest thing they have that puts you at the scene of a crime is an IP address and a bunch of searches, they don't know your name, they don't know your I.D number...or do they? Even if they did, why on this earth would they do something malicious or even a simple “something” with it?

The OS is outie, Google does not sell your bloody information, why would they? Same with Zanya...why would they sell your data? Your most important data is your I.D number, and I have rarely seen any registration page ask for information as such...so you’re safe, stop worrying now, even with RICA...erm, ok with RICA its a different story, the government will actually sell your data to MTN and claim they did not know there is a law or clause protecting your information wherever it may be.

In an article I skimmed through on News24, they reported that South Africa's education levels have risen dramatically. I thought it would be an interesting read but found out it was not the case. They are referring to Grade 8 and some matric levels. I was hoping they'd focus on matric for and tertiary levels of education.

Global Warming Warnings fell on deaf ears.

I don't know about you guys, but most of the past 5 years I spent this time, November, in Cape Town, known to have the worst weather in October, and partly November. This has got to be a first for South Africa. The entire country is overcast, cold, wet, and even some hailstorms greet us now and then.

I've asked people in Secunda if this is the norm, they said yes for October, but not November, not everyday, not for 3 weeks in a row! We literally get all 4 seasons here in a day, sunshine in the morning, wind, cold and then like clockwork just before 4pm the heavens will open. This is probably good for the mielie boere, but not for all of us living inlands.

Last week was the most ridiculous weather ever, sunshine in the morning, cars are washed, then after lunch the dark clouds appear from afar and would have made a picture perfect "end of the world" setting. Then no rain for 3 hours, it’s just dark, all of a sudden just before 5pm the heavens open with a 10 min straight hailstorm.

Ever watched those movies where people on top are warned about “something” coming and they don't listen until the “something” is actually here? Why do I feel like we were warned about global warming and we kind of shrugged our shoulders at it and went on with whatever activity was more important than a lecture about glaciers and penguins? I know we all switch off the plug; we don't let water run while we brush our teeth, we use those bright white globes that promise to save the planet, we buy only recyclable products etc...Does this really work? I've seen all those documentaries about global warming, and I believe that we cannot discard what is happening in late November as a coincidence or just some extra condensing taking place - this is not normal for a November...or is it?

The Moral Compass - v.1 Holier than thou!

The ever lasting Moral Compass - everyone has it, you, me, your 1 year old, the bum on the street, the white man, the black man, BEE beneficiaries, Japanese, woman, men, strippers, drug dealers - everyone.

Based on the stripper blogs and many people's despise of this livelihood woman call stripping and men call hardened entertainment, pun intended, I was thinking about a moral compass game.

So, if you wish to play, answer the following questions, based on options in life...you either have one option or the other...you cannot come up with your own.

The reason I give options is because in life you have are options, left or right, backwards or forwards, yes or no, eat or don't eat, sleep or die, work or go broke and die, do we all agree that we have options in life? Ok, here goes scenario 1:

You have no family left, you live in rural Somalia, you are part of a group of people who were forcefully removed from their villages and now you are on the run - you have 2 options:

Option 1: Continue running and hope someone will come rescue you - in the past it shows 1 out of 50 people running from rebels made it...by joining the rebels.

Option 2: Join the rebels to get food, a wage, and maybe escape to another country.

Scenario 2; you are a priest that got word from the holy spirit that you need to offer salvation to strippers in a strip club, the salvation you give is the word of God and a promise of eternal life...You have no money, as people didn't tithe, you have no friends, you have nothing, a typical washed up priest who was caught with someone else's wife!

Option 1: Go into the strip club, and approach the woman, tell them what their doing is wrong and risk getting ambushed by The Oracle and Lolly?

Option 2: Go into the strip club and drown you misery in bosoms and ass and Jack Daniels until your last funds are depleted and then ask God for help to offer salvation to the strippers?

Scenario 3; you and you're wife/husband are expecting a child, the doctors inform you that the child will have a difficult life because he will be a vegetable from birth, you:

Option 1: Take is as it is and make a tough decision and abort the fetus.

Option 2: give birth to the child hoping that he/she will come right.

Option 3: Give birth to the child trusting God to take all worries away and make this child’s life greater than humans expected.

Scenario 4, You are lost in the world, you have no money, a child of 3 years old, a matric qualification, you’re a white woman so no jobs for you, you know a friend of a friend who knows a strip club owner...you;

Option 1: Contact the friend to get you a gig so that you can save up or get through a diploma in something to get yourself started - they say the money is good.

Option 2: You become a beggar and hope someone will give you food

Option 3: You wait it out hoping money will fall from the sky and you can raise your child to be a president one day!

Now you can answer anyone or all of them if you will, you may only choose the options provided and please give detailed description of why you chose the option and how you tend to make it work for you?

A moral compass is embodied into everyone, the problem jumps up when this moral compass is driven by our own experiences and a general lack of care or understanding of others' situation...

Good luck with your choices!

This is my first Vlog, I suggest you turn up your volume a tad bit, I think the sounds is a bit whack. I quickely did it this morning before I start my hectic day...but luckily its starting to cool down the closer we get to the festive season.

In my Vlog I talk about garbage collectors earning more than reservist police officers, about security and body guards who work for 34 hours a day...yes 34, and they get paid to do that. Enjoy.

Today, I am extremely p'd off with my wife and her place of work. I'm p'd off with her as this is the second phone she has managed to put in the sights of the thieves in as little as 3 months - i.e negligence, and with her place of work as they have a small wall type structure that cordon's off the front from the rear. Don't even ask about the security!

Its an open plan office space but this wall separates the front from the back, and in most instances, everyone is at the back, and they can't see who's at the front...yes, my wife works at the front side of the office, so she leaves her phone there on her desk and goes to the back and then someone left the door open and the perp came in and took the phone, same as the last HTC I gave to her!

Anyway, yesterday I got my upgrade on my work phone, its an HTC Snap, it looks remarkably similar to the poverty spec BB. It's just like all other HTC's, boring as hell, and the fact that it's Windows Mobile 6.1 doesn't make it any better. I do have a problem with the QWERTY keyboard, the "function" button used to change the words to numbers does not work when using Internet Explorer where some websites requires me to insert a password. For some reason it does not want to accept both numbers and letters in the password box. Maybe its just an error at the backend of the website.

The Omnia is gone, it was stolen today, the security guards ran after the perp and he got away, the cops are still looking but my hopes are not high. I miss my phone, I did not like this HTC Snap the minute I got to play with it.

I miss my touch screen, my 16G, my 5 mega pixel, my music, my videos, my photo's, my internet browsing, my GPS, all the feature rich content, I miss my phone!
How am I going to deliver great Vlogs now?

Blogs vs Vlogs - wherein lies the future?

Wherein lies the future, the future of telling or talking, listening or hearing, showing or doing? I've been thinking about this reality-type update for some time now. I see The Source has been doing it for a couple of times as well. Blogs are meant to stimulate the brain, give people insight into your thoughts through words via reading.

I love Hip Hop and most of these guys have started to use the internet as a base to promote and share their daily lives and intricacies via Vlogs or V-logs where they say what's on their minds just like a blog, but only this time its captured via video. So the interaction is personal, as you can see the person giving you his/her opinion. I find this better than blogging in many ways, by doing this you can clearly express your view and opinion and not be mistaken, as people will be able to see your facial reactions/expressions to things you might say. Blogging has one difficulty, and that's expressing your true opinions and feelings in words, using exclamation marks and capitol letters is not a great way to show your true emotions, and that's why we sometimes get the nasty blogs and comments.

I'm going to start doing V-logs for a limited period only, a kind of experimental period. Maybe this will prove to be the next step blogging has been waiting for in my opinion, blogging became mundane a long time ago, we needed to be updated and hear news on the fly and resources like Twitter and FaceBook has kept us in the light and is growing daily. It's like news and newspapers, I'm sure demographics of some sort will show that younger people would prefer Vlogs as opposed to reading 2500+ words...Plus the novelty of Vlogs is exciting...I'll try and do mine today.

The setback of Vlogs is the very reason why people started blogging in the first place, the privacy aspect of it, you'll know who's doing the vlog...as with blogs you only knew the writer, not their looks etc.

The OS is outie, in my opinion, Vlogs are the future of blogging, a kind of blogging 2.0, remember when web 2.0 showed its face and possibilities, many were against it arguing about its origins and originality, while "they" were arguing about the meaning of web 2.0, others like FaceBook, LinkedIn, YouTube and now Twitter have utilized this technology and made it work for them...I'm sure Vlogs will grow in the same step.

I know its a bit early, but if you, like me, have noticed the sheer speed the year has been passing by, its almost time for Christmas. Usualy I did not have money to buy great presents for my girl other than R100 thingy here and there...Now that I'm strapped I'm going all out!

I'd like a PS3 for Christmas, seriously! I've been thinking back and forth between a PS3 and an XBOX. But come to think of it, I had an XBOX, so now I can get a PS3, and it will look insane on the 42" plasma! Other than a PS3 I don't know what else I'd want other than things for my car, like a double din cd/dvd/gps player or a complete sound system or or or...

The PS3 is my best bet.

What do you guy expect or want for Christmas?
