It must be Saturday! Deduction as to why: watching an inane movie on TV and not worrying whether the boss walks in and catches me doing nothing. Oh yes, and the maid arrived today to give the place its regular shake down and iron some clothes. Besides that, it could have been Monday.

Society has become a victim of rules! There are rules on how to raise children, on how to have sex, on how to treat one another, on how to fight a war, on how to be more human, on how to think, on how to have meaningful relationships, on how to date, on how to…etc, and then there are the Oprah’s, the Dr. Phil’s and the Media Moguls who relish in telling people on how to be men, be women, have orgasms, when to marry, why not to marry, be all you can be, achieve maturity, be free, find the G spot, have mighty erections, loose weight, be parents, and so on. Nothing is undertaken without some form of instruction: we need psychiatrists, we need motivational speakers, we need decision makers and we need soothsayers. And then there are self-imposed etiquettes that dictate what may be spoken about in polite-conversation and how to act in public.

In times past, lynching mobs used to gather around the house of an alleged deviant, demanding the deviant’s head on a stick. And irrespective of how the deviant protested innocence, the mob, fuelled by a few brash individuals (who were driven by self-proclaimed judge-and-executioner sense of right-and-wrong,) usually settled the matter in a brutish and gruesome manner.

Why is the Sunday Times gunning for the Minister of Health? Do they have vested interests in the Deputy Minister of Health? Is not the stealing of hospital records also a wrong? Is it not all a ploy to get the public riled up, for the more sensationalism is sprouted, the more newspapers are sold? And, Why is the Sunday Times criticizing John Robbie (Radio 702) for his critical take on their method operandi?

Are we facing a melt-down of gigantic proportions? And I’m not talking about the usual gumph of global-warming, save-the-planet and other woe-paranoia (all the usual suspects that tend to occupy much time in media spewings and other human interactions.) What is at hand will have a greater impact on the everyday decisions of your average jack-and-jill, for it impacts on the corporeal.

In the hope of cobbling together words that hopefully lead to a congruent discussion, I found myself at odds with the whole debacle surrounding the ‘doings’ of the deputy Health Minister, Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge. Said Deputy Minister knew very well what the consequences at play were, as anyone who has ever worked in a corporate environment can attest to; one can push the envelope but as long as one plays the game, all is fine.

The other day, while attending a Body Corporate meeting; one of those where a resident is called in to defend a charge of misconduct; the defendant challenged the hearing by posing a riddle: What he interprets as noise, is not noise to the Body Corporate. Boom, and it all went misty.

To all paedophiles, rapists and other minority aberrations of the males species, thank you. Thank you for stigmatising the rest of us males who, through no fault of our own, are forced to endure media vilification, feminist hate-speech and the abuse of those whose job is to enforce the law.

In between all the writiage and other angst ridden articles occupying much space on Blogging Sites, there is very little of value for one to sink one’s teeth into. I understand that blogging and or Citizen Reporting is all about giving voice to the masses, making them feel involved, wanted and empowered.
