I can now proudly say that I managed to attend at least 1 of the matches of the first ever FIFA World Cup held on African soil. My China's & I left for Jozi @ 9 & made good time to get to Nasrec at 10:30. We had planned to park at the park & ride facilities & take the shuttle to the stadium. Imagine our surprise when we got there & were told that we needed a ticket (not match tickets) to park there. The website we researched said nothing about pre-booked parking spots. We were then told to go to Southgate where we could purchase a ticket for the car. We then made our way to Southgate where the queue for Computicket was 3 miles long & was being attended to by only one cashier. When we did eventually get to the front we were told that all the Park & Ride tickets were sold out. We then had to make a choice, we could either walk to the stadium or get a taxi to take us there.

I am not one for walking, I think it's overrated so we headed to the Taxi rank & managed to negotiate a price for a 'special' taxi to take us to the perimeter of the demarcated area. The trip in itself was a fun experience. It was the first time I ever drove in one of the most infamous vehicles on SA roads & I smaaked it. The mood was so upbeat & everyone was laughing & joking throughout the journey.  Along the way we saw sidewalk shebeens which were full 0f tourists & we greeted the fans & Metro cops. We had 2 Dutch tourists in the taxi with us & they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
