As a flash developer for over 10 years, I guess I've always known that one day I will have to leave the confines of my then Macromedia - now Adobe comfort zone, I just never expected it to be quite so soon.

So with the cacophony of Christmas bells and cash registers ringing out loud from all corners, what is everyone spoiling themselves with this year? Let's face it, we all know that Christmas presents are just commercial craziness but there's that satisfying pat on the back for a year well survived when we buy ourselves something we've been waiting for an excuse to buy - and there's no better excuse than the silly season.

I have a wireless network from a company called Amobia. The last two weeks I've suddenly started experiencing connectivity issues. So I do the whole support ticket thing, and they tell me they can see there's a problem, but they don't know what the problem is.

I joined a group of friends for a night out at Monte Casino on Saturday. Two drinks in and I had to break the seal, but when I headed for the toilets in the restaurant, I found them locked. A passing waitress informed me that there was no toilet in the area and we had to use the general toilet facilities. Much to my horror I trudged off to find that Monte Casino had closed all except one lot of toilets and they were manually having security cart in wheelie bins filled with water to practice some circa civilization toilet flushing. This resulting in long queues and some - as an american friend called it - "funky" toilet conditions.

I read the headline about winning something, so like anyone else, I clicked on it and I was presented with a tough question. The best and worst (in my opinion) of technological gadgets for 2011. I wracked my brain for gadgets that I bought this year, and OMG, I actually haven't bought myself anything.

I've always been a loyal Firefox user, although as a developer I have IE, Safari and Chrome installed as well. I've noticed that the recent changes that Mozilla have incorporated, especially with their plug-in containers are really not working so well - or is it just me. I tried contacting them but their website is just an endless loop of FAQs.

I rushed home to watch the Adobe CS5 global launch "live".
