Telephone sales

What’s up with people trying to sell crap to us over the phone and annoying the hell out of us, while they’re at it?

I have received at least one phone call a day, the past few days, where some or other company tries to sell some kind of life insurance to me. Surely, if you want to insure something, you will contact a broker. Now if I say yes to every idiot who want R50/R100 a month from me, by the rate I’m receiving calls, my salary would run out very quickly.

I thought the whole idea behind the new credit act was to stop annoying people from selling stuff to you over the phone. That if you want to buy something, they must first make sure that you can afford the payment, but it doesn’t seem to work that way.

Instead, people who really can afford stuff get turned down, while others are being harassed over the phone every day.

Yesterday I got a call from someone who still had my maiden name on their records, I’ve been married for nine years already. Where do they get their info? And he called on my cellphone, which isn’t listed anywhere (to my knowledge).

I wish someone will stop worrying about crap like changing all the names in all the cities and start concentrating on important stuff, like prohibiting companies to do phone sales.

I can start to feel how the belt around my waist is starting to loosen ever so slightly as the economy seems to start to stabilise.

Come twelve o’clock tonight we should be paying just under 30c a litre less for petrol and over 50c a litre less for diesel, which is good news for someone who bought a diesel 4x4 in February when diesel was still R7,40 a litre.

Even though we are probably not home free yet, we can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Now I’m just awaiting a drop in the interest rate, which would go a long way in recovering my budget.

I did not really know much about the movie beforehand, which is a good thing, since I might have been disappointed.

There are women that took this idea of a woman can do anything a man can to extremes. Now I believe that there are definitely women who can do things most men can do (i.e. Fix cars, base jump, lift weights, and change a light bulb), I’m not one of them.

I haven’t watched much of the Olympics, but catch a bit of it while hubby watches. To me it seems that the underdogs seem to come out on top more often.

My maiden name was Prins, hence I got the nickname of “Prinses” from my previous boss. This particular lady, also act as my surrogate mother when I need someone to talk to. I still have a mother, who is a phone call away, but I just can’t seem to talk to her about anything and everything, but I digress.
