What’s up with people trying to sell crap to us over the phone and annoying the hell out of us, while they’re at it?
I have received at least one phone call a day, the past few days, where some or other company tries to sell some kind of life insurance to me. Surely, if you want to insure something, you will contact a broker. Now if I say yes to every idiot who want R50/R100 a month from me, by the rate I’m receiving calls, my salary would run out very quickly.
I thought the whole idea behind the new credit act was to stop annoying people from selling stuff to you over the phone. That if you want to buy something, they must first make sure that you can afford the payment, but it doesn’t seem to work that way.
Instead, people who really can afford stuff get turned down, while others are being harassed over the phone every day.
Yesterday I got a call from someone who still had my maiden name on their records, I’ve been married for nine years already. Where do they get their info? And he called on my cellphone, which isn’t listed anywhere (to my knowledge).
I wish someone will stop worrying about crap like changing all the names in all the cities and start concentrating on important stuff, like prohibiting companies to do phone sales.
