Sandton City has jumped on the mobile app boom by creating apps for iOS and Android. This fact is currently advertised throughout the mall, complete with a QR Code to quickly grab the app (currently v1.4).

Google Currents has the tagline free beautiful magazines and I think that's a perfect description for this app. Currents turns just about any news source into eye candy, making it easy and attractive to consume large amounts of content.

I've had the pleasure of being given the opportunity to try out the soon-to-be-released Shout mobile application from Samsung, sponsors of the Android app (in partnership with Tracker). 

Using a phone as a remote control is not a novel idea nor is it widely-adopted but it can be quite handy.
