On Friday 8ta announced a new BlackBerry Social & Email plan, which is a BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) offering, at a minimal cost.

The new cost-effective BIS plan offers BBM, BlackBerry mail, internet browsing, social networking, BlackBerry App World and a web-based email account (e.g. 8ta mail, Gmail or Yahoo). The new plan will cost R30 a month.

Amith Maharaj, senior managing executive of Telkom Mobile says that 8ta is dedicated to providing customers’ real value for money and tailor-made offerings. 

The main difference between the full BIS offering is that customers are allowed 10 web-based email accounts, whereas the new low-cost offering allows one additional web-based email account.

“BlackBerry is a popular choice in South Africa and 8ta is proud to provide widely for the needs of this market,” adds Maharaj.

The new BlackBerry Social & Email plan was made available nationwide as of yesterday, 17 June, at all 8ta flagship stores and Telkom Direct stores.
