Samsung SA launches local apps PDF Print E-mail

From dialing a taxi, to compiling your taxes, Samsung users in South Africa can now find localised apps in the Samsung Apps store to help them with everything from productivity, protection, planning and playing.

Samsung Electronics South Africa has announced nine new apps relevant to consumers in South Africa. The nine new “smart and simple” apps cover a variety of topics, ranging from nature to nurture, and is bound to appeal to and address the needs of a diverse group of consumers.

“In the pursuit to provide technology that is not only cutting edge, but also relevant, we are looking to add Apps that are locally focused and that will add value to our consumers’ lives,” says Craige Fleischer, Director: Mobile Communications, Samsung Electronics South Africa. “The nine new apps are an extension to this and are great additions to our other proudly South African Apps and thousands of internationally sourced best sellers.”

Kickoff Cover Star
Even if they have no hand-eye coordination or ball sense, sporting fans can now have a taste of what it would be like to grace the cover of KICKOFF, the biggest selling sporting magazine in Africa. Users simply snap a picture of themselves or friends with their phones, crop it to fit, write headlines about their imaginary sporting prowess, and publish the end result to Facebook. Fans of African music, movies and writing can discover new creative offerings from the continent. This entertaining app delivers the best short films, video, music, poetry and more from various artists across the Mother Continent. Users can listen to the latest tracks from their favourite African musicians and comment on it; they can find out what a particular artist is up to and enjoy videos uploaded by other users. Sasol eBirds of Southern Africa
This is another one that will make nature lovers and birdwatchers all chirpy. An interactive, electronic version of the best-selling Sasol Birds of southern Africa field guide, the app includes images and descriptions of over 950 bird species found in the southern African region. Listen to bird calls, compare two birds on the same screen and use the “Smart Search” feature to help you identify birds by beak shape, size, colour and habitat. Mobiflock Parental Control
Parents will be able to keep an eye on their own little chicks with this all-in-one safety and security app for smartphones and tablets. Mobiflock My Child will help parents to protect their kids from online threats such as cyber bullying, sexual harassment and prevent them from accessing inappropriate content and sexting. Mobiflock My Life is a free protection service for all smartphones and tablets. It will help users remotely locate and lock missing devices, delete device information, block unwanted contacts and manages all the devices from a household from one convenient dashboard.
