The app will enable customers to manage their data in one place even if they run out of airtime or data bundles. Services include checking airtime and data balances, redeem airtime vouchers, top-up and purchase data bundles from anywhere, at anytime. Telkom Mobile senior managine executive, Amith Maharaj says that the app is a great tool that will make customers’ lives easier as the need for data in South Africa increases. "We also intend to launch similar apps for other platforms, such as Android, in the near future." The app requires the user to be connected to the Internet using their 8ta sim card in order to access its services. If you are connected to the Internet via WiFi, you will not be able to check your balance, redeem vouchers or purchase data bundles. "Bill shock is a real problem for data users and it is our intention to improve functionality on our apps and portals to avoid this problem", said Maharaj.
The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store at no cost here.
