Angry Birds Lands in Finland PDF Print E-mail

The wildly popular Angry Birds game and app have steadily been taking over mobile devices, PCs, and even gone intergalactic.

Now the birds have staked a claim on land too.

The first official Angry Birds theme park opened up to the public in Särkänniemi Amusement Park in Tampere, Finland on April 28. Called Angry Birds Land, the theme park was designed in collaboration with the game’s Finnish creators, Rovio Entertainment.

Inspired by the popular game, the park was designed with families and young children in mind and consists of twelve rides, various games, an adventure course and food stalls.

Miikka Seppälä, CEO of Särkänniemi Adventure Park, says: “We wanted to create a unique themed area and associate it with a strong and well-known brand. The Angry Birds characters were born in Finland but [are] known worldwide by people of all ages. This is a perfect fit for our Adventure Park. Our goal is to motivate the fans, both adults and children, to exercise and enjoy the outdoors.”

Angry Birds Land is not the first theme park that has been inspired by the game. An unlicensed Angry Birds theme park opened in China in September last year already.

However, Rovio Entertainment has announced that it intends to expand the official themed activity parks to other parts of the world as well, with plans already underway to open a park in the UK. The company will partner with Finnish playground equipment maker Lappset to furnish the park with Angry Birds-inspired swings, sandpits, slides, climbing towers and outdoor arcade games.
