Nashua Mobile adds new Nokias PDF Print E-mail

The telecoms provider extends its flat-rate data deal to the new Nokia Asha range.

Cellphone users will soon be able to take advantage of Nashua Mobile`s flat-rate data package on new Nokia handsets.

The Reunert group`s independent telecommunications service provider announced yesterday that it has added the Nokia Asha 201, 300 and 303 to the selection of Nokia devices it supports on its flat-rate Xtreme Data package.

The Nokia Asha range will be available in store from 7 May, and will be available to use with Nashua Mobile`s R59 per month flat-rate data deal, providing subscribers with access to e-mail, instant messaging, browsing and social networking.

Nashua Mobile says the fixed monthly cost removes the uncertainty associated with other data rate plans and “eliminates the chance of bill shock”. The package is subject to fair usage policies.

Phone features

Blurring the line between smartphones and feature phones, the Nokia Asha 303 and 201 offer various functionalities. The 201 features a qwerty keyboard, while the 303 integrates qwerty and touch, and the 300 offers a keypad and touch-screen.

All three devices offer Internet access, integrated social networking, messaging and applications from the Nokia Store. Nokia Asha mobile phones make use of the new Nokia Web browser for Series 40 with up to 90% data compression.

Nashua Mobile MD Chris Radley says the company is looking to add more smartphones to the selection of devices supported on the Xtreme Data package in coming months.

“Nashua Mobile`s Xtreme Data service works by routing data from the handset to Nashua Mobile`s shared GSM data access point names from Vodacom and MTN, while Web access is controlled and managed intelligently by Nashua Mobile`s infrastructure partners.”

Xtreme Data is currently also available on Nokia X2-01 and C3 mobile phones based on the Series 60 platform, and the N8, E5 and E7 from Nokia`s smartphone range.
