The launch comes one year after Zynga introduced Farmville which is currently being played by more than 75 million users across the world.
The free download of the application will by available via Apple’s iTunes store and will provide players with the same functionalities found in the browser based platform. The only difference is that it wont be the utilizing flash, a problem that Zynga overcame in the early stages of the development.
Apple users will receive status updates and alerts via push messages which notifies them when crops are ready or when they receive gifts.
“Mobile devices are an extension of people’s daily social lives everywhere in the world and the Apple iPhone is the most innovative breakthrough in this area,” said Mark Pincus, founder and chief executive officer of Zynga.
So the next time you visit a friend’s farm to help them rake up leaves and you see trees with white apples and a baby snow leopard basking in the sun, know that your friend is tending to the farm using either an iPhone or iPod Touch.
