Wednesday, 23 June 2010 15:22
Peer-to-peer (P2P) filesharing service, LimeWire, will launch a new subscription-based music service later this year.
The new service will include downloading and streaming. It will be accessable to a range of platforms and devices, including mobile, desktop and web-based clients.
The new service will feature iTunes integration so that users will be able to sync their iTunes library to LimeWire as well as sync newly-downloaded tracks back to iTunes and portable music devices.
?Users have so far been sharing millions of files on LimeWire, including copyright infringing media. This has landed the company in millions of dollars' worth of hot water with the music industry.
However, despite the mounting law-suits, LimeWire remain optimistic about the relaunch which they hope will offer users boundless music portability and compatibility in the future.
