Tech4Africa, a web and emerging technology conference taking place in mid-August this year, is the first of its kind to be held in South Africa.
The conference will focus on emerging technology and web trends, such as mobile and Web 2.0, and the business opportunities that these trends may provide.
The conference aims to gain experience from industry leaders in order to gauge the potential for technology and the web in Africa.
Local speakers include Arthur Goldstruck, head of the World Wide Worx research organisation, Matthew Buckland, online media guru and renowned blogger, and Erik Hersman, founder of Afrigadget and co-founder of Ushahidi (a web application mapping incidents of political violence in Kenya).
The conference is taking place in Bryanston Johannesburg. Tickets for the two-day conference will cost R6000.
