Nokia introduces Lifecasting with Ovi PDF Print E-mail
Ovi Lifecasting nokiaAs more users adapt to location-based updates, Nokia and Facebook have formed a partnership to offer Lifecasting by Ovi.
Lifecasting by Ovi allows users to publish their location with their status updates directly to their Facebook account, from their home screen. It is the first application to allow users to do so.
Lifecasting debuted on the new Nokia N97 mini but is now available on all new free Ovi Maps compatible devices. The N97 mini is the little sister to the N97, designed for the social and style-conscious individual.
Communications manager for Nokia South Africa, Tania Steenkamp says that lifecasting enables users to tag and share their current location with friends on Facebook and even add a photograph to show what they are doing or experiencing.
“This new feature is a great way of showing your friends exactly where you are as it shows your exact location clearly on the map. If friends and family want to visit the same place they have all the mapping details and co-ordinates to find the exact same location,” says Steenkamp.
She adds, “It is all about social location now in terms of sharing and updating the people who are important in your life. People want to bring their physical and online worlds together via the Internet. The Nokia N97 mini is designed for this new social Internet and to help navigate people and places. With lifecasting, the Nokia N97 mini and Ovi usher in the next chapter of personal and location-aware Internet.”

It's quite evident that Ovi seems to place more emphasis on its own releases than its developers. This is quite disappointing especially with lack of communications with regard to consistency in applying its processes in Ovi.
