Those people who are not really professional photographers, but still want to be able to take great pics with lenses that suit the occassion, will be delighted that Sony is working on ultra-portable compact digital cameras, like the normal point-and-shoot cameras, but with a bit more oomph.
The company is developing a range of compact digital cameras that will have interchangeable lenses, like the larger, more expensive professional DSLR cameras.
This means users will have the same image quality and versatility that professional DSLR cameras offer, but in a much smaller package.
According to Sony the camera will feature the company's own APS-sized exmor HD CMOS sensor. This will also give the new line of cameras the ability to capture HD video.
Judging from pics of the camera, the design is very plain and simple with the interchangeable lenses being the most noticeable feature.
This camera is part of Sony's new Alpha rage concept products. Other concept products include a prototype of a Super Telephoto Lens (500mm F4 G) as well as a Carl Zeiss wide angle lens for better landscape photography (called Distagon T 24mm F2 ZA SSM).
