Drive & walk nagivation free on Nokia smartphones PDF Print E-mail
All Nokia smartphones will now have access to walk and drive navigation free on Nokia’s mapping software, Ovi Maps.  It is available on the latest version of Nokia maps, which can be downloaded from www.nokia.com/maps

The latest version of Ovi Maps includes car and pedestrian navigation features like turn-by-turn voice guidance for 74 countries. It is available in 46 languages and has traffic information for more than 10 countries and detailed maps for over 180 countries.

“We want to make using your mobile for navigation as familiar as using it to send a text or take a picture. We believe that making the best maps with voice guided navigation available for free will be the catalyst to do this,” explained executive vice president for Nokia, Anssi Vanjoki.

“Why have multiple devices that work in only one country or region? Put it all together, make it free, make it global and you have something that is truly useful and can help you get around almost any city in the world whether you’re on foot or driving.”

Ovi Maps is available for download immediately on 10 handsets including the Nokia N97 mini, Nokia 5800, Nokia E72. Nokia handsets that are compatible with the new software can download it free of charge, as well.

As of March 2010, new Nokia GPS-enabled smartphones will come preloaded with the new version of Ovi Maps.
