It is also the first camera of its kind to satisfy the world’s most stringent waterproof standard.
Functionality and design
Styled to fit comfortably and securely in either your right or left hand, the waterproof dual camera Xacti, which forms part of SANYO’s award-winning Dual camera Xacti range, enables users to take one-handed action shots by means of its vertical pistol-grip design. For those who prefer the traditional camcorder grip with the handstrap, the horisontal design is also available.
The Dual camera Xacti range is ‘all about convenience’ as each camera features both high quality video and still photo functionalities combined in one camera, which means that you’ll never need to carry two cameras around again. The fact that video and photo modes can be switched instantaneously and that still photographs can be taken while filming also means that you’ll never miss another photo opportunity again.
With Xacti it’s easy to switch between photo and video mode as buttons are conveniently located at the back of the camera. All of the controls are thumb-operable with the lens and grip optimally angled to put the arm and elbow at the most comfortable position. This in turn puts less stress on the user’s wrist due to the natural posture it assumes.
Sequential shooting records up to 13 frames per second. Take pictures like the pros with up to 30 photos - the perfect solution for action photography.
SANYO’s waterproof dual camera Xacti range can be used all-year-round and is the perfect gift for people on the go. Featuring advanced waterproofing technology, these cameras can keep up with active lifestyles, enhancing the scope of opportunities. It can be used in the rain and for marine sports such as surfing or snorkeling or for winter sports such as skiing or snowboarding.
What’s more is that all the models in the Xacti range boast high definition capability, which allows users to capture even more detail than was possible before. The HDMI output allows for playback on high-definition flat-screen TVs or computers.
The VPC-CA9 (vertical design), which offers enhanced functionality of 9-megapixel still images - a world-first for a waterproof HD dual camera - can be used up to 1.5 meters (5 feet) under water whereas the VPC-WH1 (horizontal design), featuring a 30x optical zoom for superior video-capturing can be submersed up to 3 meters (10 feet) under water. Includes a high-capacity Sanyo brand lithium-ion battery and delivers approximately 200 minutes of video record time - that’s over three hours and twenty minutes.
The highly advanced MPEG4 AVC/H.264 video compression format on all the camera models compresses videos and pictures without loss of quality and makes sharing movies on social networking sites or e-mailing them to friends and family even easier. The recording system enables users to transform motion image data recorded in MPEG-4 to a PC by a simple drag and drop operation. Xacti can also record videos in WEB-SHQ mode to produce video data that is small enough in volume for easy posting on web applications.
SANYO’s Dual camera Xactis are the only cameras with a built-in slide-show function that enables users to view photos and videos on their camera or from their camera on their television without the nuisance of stopping to switch modes. There is also no need to switch modes to take the perfect photo while filming a video or to switch playback modes when viewing a multi-media slideshow.
Main features of the VPC-CA9 waterproof dual camera Xacti / 9M Photos and HD Videos (Vertical) includes:
SD/SDHC cards offer a convenient and affordable way of storing data and it is for this very reason that Xacti has adopted a memory card recoding system using high density integration technology. Unlike other cameras that require two separate engines for processing, Xacti image processing circuits are packaged into a single chip which reduces weight and resources.
The system is highly compatible with a host of other media including ipods, digital photo frames and computers. By purchasing an ordinary hard disk drive, users can use their Xacti to store SD card images as well as play and create albums of videos without a PC. No editing software is required and only basic PC operations are needed for uploading videos to the web.
Manufactured by SANYO since 2003, The Xacti dual camera range, which are also available in traditional horizontal designs, includes the world’s first waterproof HD camera (CA9), the world’s first full HD dual camera (HD2000 and FH1) and the highest resolution dual camera which offers either 10-megapixel or 12-megapixel recording capabilities (CG10).
Using a 16GB SDHC memory card users can capture over 5 hours and 43 minutes worth of video in standard definition or approximately 3 hours and 51 minutes in HD video mode.
